The price of beauty
Been catching the much talked abt show, tt is televised every wknights at 10pm, on Channel U.
the one abt plastic surgery. Well, not juz coz Thomas Ong is damn 帅..but the plot is pretty substantial too.
Basically the show evolves ard the 帅 plastic surgeorn, and Michelle Chia as the bickering other half. U noe the thing abt shows and how the bickering couple eventually ends up being tgt?
Anw they argue abt the grounds of plastic surgury, the aesthetic as well as the ethical/moral aspect of it.
I particularly liked the episode of the fat lady, who went for liposuction upon sponsorship by her generous(but fat) boyfriend, only to emerge a prettier, slimmer more confident lady.
After which, she ditched tt generous but fat) boyfriend and went back to her original bf( a suave looking guy).
The true irony is tt at the beginning of the show, the viewer wld feel pity towards the fat lady..whom we'd feel unjust for since she has a fat bf. I mean, if u r fat, why shd u insist tt ur gf becomes slim for u? Why shd anyone, in fact, go for plastic surgury, or beauty enhancement, for the sake of somebody else?
At the end of the episode, the pity is shifted to the fat bf, who was ditched and betrayed of his trust, his money, to a gf he thought he cld share them with. I rmb how Thomas Ong and Michelle Chia were debating abt how the lady, has attained beautiful on the outside, but lost all her inner beauty. In short, a rotton apple.
It's these shows tt makes u wonder, at what cost/lengths will one go to attain beauty? Is winning the whole world, but losing ur soul in its pursuit, really worth it?
