tired.

hah n i think my back is getting rusty n finally taking the toil. today i officially started my lectures, having attended 2 lects today. development economics lecturer dr lee s.a talked quite alot of irrelevant stuff but at the same time, he mentioned a few stuff tt really caught my attention. the whole time during lect i was pretty much reciting the 'teach me to listen' prayer which is stuck on my notice board. i juz needed to pray coz i was juz drifting off n i felt no need to listen to wad i felt was quite 'duhhh'.

something i pray every morning to remind myself to listen. far too often we speak too much n fail to listen. i want to a gd listener.

ok anw, dr lee mentioned tiz: when ur income level increase, ie as the country becomes more affluent, u do things in a more roundabout manner. it's a paradox but its so true! He mentioned tt there's tiz joke abt a s'porean guy who went to a less developed ctry, den exclaimed to a farmer, 'i'm gonna buy a plot of land here. i cant wait to retire and fish here all day. so relaxing' and the farmer said to him, 'well, i've been doing tiz all my life'

so u see, we work soo freaking hard, n yearn for the day we can retire n lead a layback, relaxed life, while pple in less developed c'tries r doing simply wad we r working towards. dun u feel tt we r all doing things in a roundabout manner? tt's pretty ironic, isnt it?

sometimes i really wonder y we actually engage in the rat race? wad is awaiting at the end? What a person need is not money; wad a person need is functionings.

had trg which was pretty alright. ate at fong seng, doubles not full attendance coz theresa's ill. anyhow, it was a nice chat, though not so much e deep topics but more trivial matters. abt how times have changed.

everyone's falling ill. went home, mum's down too. apparently mine's like an on/off cough n den now she's hit by the cough bug as well. do tc ya?
