short recap of ytd n today

ytd's row was really nice. Last sat it felt like it was every woman for herself, rowing their own timing. But ytd it was different. it felt nice, it felt gd. Oh i mean, REALLY GOOD. I thought i'd never feel this special aft a race set, but i actually did. 2 race sets, the 1st one was towards 1st bridge. E 2nd one was the actual race route itself.

What was going thru my head thru the race set? I cant really remember. I just knew i shouted 'pause pause pause pause' sometimes and 'pull right back' when there was an up. I do however, remember raine saying, "lai, pacers, the pace is very good ah, thank u' during the race set itself n suddenly it felt so warm n fuzzy inside. I think its because i'm so used to being zhua-ed or at least its juz a 'pacers, timing is steady ah; tt this 'thank u' seemed so foreign, yet at the same time it felt so..sweet. It made me smile for a moment, den i said, 'yup let's make this a gd one and row together!' n continued rowing to finish e set. The last charge was nicely done.

2nd set, serene cox. she mentioned something like, 'imagine there's a boat beside u, what wld u do!? Come on, pull away!!' during our last 100-200m left. N we did as she said. Pull away, yes. We den rowed back to SDBA where we had mixed trg with the guys. Learnt a few new db jargon today, wahaha. They are: Length, Acceleration, Cycle and Lactic Acid Barrier. Nasiman gave a short debrief b4 we went down to row about this length-acceleration-cycle thing. Basically if u want shorter stroke length, u have gotta make sure the accelearation(power) is not compromised upon. These 3 things r inter-linked. Got down on e boat for mixed trg coz wendy, who replaced jul, had sore delts. pls take care k? Sitting in the big boat as a mid pack is such an experience cum eye opener. Really, this sem the furthest i ventured from the front was 3rd pair, no further than tt. For mixed trg, i was e 5th pair, partnering iso. So fascinating. Ok, really it is. quite sua ku i noe, but hah, i've been a front pack this whole sem. Mona said, 'cindy, remember dun chase pacer' n i said 'oh, ok.' yup i kept tt in mind coz tendency to chase is quite high when u r behind n e water is much lighter. Shouted 'pause pause pause pause' during some parts coz the guys pause is rather distinct and we had this tendency of chasing. Kinda like a reminder to myself n to whoever wanna tune in to really pause n to enter the water at the same time.

Funny/worth noting incident of the day includes: Nasiman asking jiahe to help him catch a fish and he instructed the left to draw water. Only the girls on e left draw water lah. The guys just simply ignored! But in the end jiahe didnt manage to catch the fish also. Perhaps by drawing water the fish wld have been scared away.

Poor Angeline aka lele fell down n grazed her knee while walking to national stadium to bathe. Her knee was bleeding quite badly n blood trikled down her leg. wenya was screaming as if she was the one who had fell down n geoks was saying she's a let down to NPCC. Rendered 1st aid to angeline n she said i got wad it takes to be a paramedic. Huh? hahaha

Anyway, aft lunch i left for home n didnt join e rest to go temple and pray. Had to give tuition. Came home feeling very drained. Someone came to chat with me online n it was kinda like an emotional talk and i was just really surprised tt e person i highly regarded n look up to was actually quite sentimental n emotional deep down inside. Maybe coz we r nearing the race so the feeling is more intensed, more real in tt sense.

-----------------------------------
Today's trg was gd too. We ran to S'pore Indoor Stadium. The row was good but cld have paused longer to let the boat glide more. Serene gave pointers on e boat during evaluation aft tt particular set. Learning new things everyday. I mean, every trg. While helping Serene tie the boats tgt at the back, smth minor happened. I hooked the rope to the other boat but wasnt in time to let my finger siam4, and den the loop of the rope tightened, with my index finger jammed there. There was this instant swell and i was yelling, 'shit!' coz of the pain. Dunnoe y but the 1st exclamation tt had actually wanted to come outta my mouth was f*ck coz it was rather pain, but i converted it to a 'shit!' instead. Now the capillaries at the tip of my finger can be seen, its internal bleeding but its ntg serious really.

Noticed tt pull up bar 1 is the express lane. during debrief, we did this anonymous boat thing. Like we did in nc last time. Anyway in my opinion what's really important is to finish a race set together. it's the journey, not the destination tt truly matters. Serene said she was proud of us, at tt pt it was another 'woah!' moment for me. seetow came to talk to us n smth really feels strange but i dun wanna read into it too much.

Received a phonecall from arts deans office during lunch time. They told me i'm down for an interview with regards to the transfer of course. When? This thursday 945am. I tried initially to ask if can change timing to ltr, or another day. She said it was impossible coz its juz tt day, in the morning, just this slot for pple to b interviewed for transfer. My heart sank. yirang n wenting who sat at e same table as me saw my immediate change in expression. Thursday 945am..does it mean i have to miss the very last trg?? Broke the news to mona who was sitting directly behind me. Another big reaction. In the end i called back and asked if i cld go 1st. it was re-scheduled. Thankfully the person of the 1st slot was willing to change. Thank U Lord. I'm the 1st to be interviewed at 9am, then i'd rush down for trg. A load of my back, at least for a while. I noe this interview is the final procedure, it's really a make or break. It determines everything. At least for the next 2 yrs in NUS. Why must everything clash on e same day? Yah so i'm juz gonna walk into the deans office with a paddle, a shoe bag, and my deuter bag. No room for complains, i'm juz thankful that i no need to skip e entire last trg.

Dad asked me at dinner table bout how was i doing so far. I replied, 'good. In fact, it has never been better' and he laughed. 'Never been better?' he exclaimed. 'Yup,' i replied. U wont noe till u experience wad i'm experiencing right now.

Anyway at boon lay interchange, there's like posters tt the NKF put up to create awareness bout a charity show tt's gonna be held soon. It said, 'feng1 yu3 tong2 zhou1 xian4 zhen1 xin1' and it just struck me. Like, hello, seriously i think it best applies to wad we are/have gone through. Be it rain, shine or wind(feng yu),we row together inn the same boat(zhou). N we display our true feelings n emotion, our heart is there.(zhen xin) The quote literally applies to us lah. I mean, the stars are gonna perform stunts n all tt, but so wad? it's not literally gg thru tt lah, compared to us. we r the gung-ho ones.
