final entry of the yr

hi folks..

tiz will officially b the last post for the yr. u noe u hear the ad abt the nation countdown which goes:

"on the last day, the last sec of 2008, how will YOU celebrate?"

well each time i hear tt i roll my eyes n go..wtf? i'd b workin. wad a way to celebrate huh..

yup i'm schedule another 2 wks of graveyard shift. i'd probably get to see the spectacular fireworks..in my dreams and wildest fantasy. ha!

juz a few stuff to touch on. (nah its not gonna be a yr end evaluation yada yada..neither is it gonna b on new yr resolution)

1) i enjoyed the xmas celebration. kudos to the welfare who organised diz team christmas celebration. i dunno if its considered a tradition of sorts, but it sure is a positive trend n highly recommended!

no doubt there isnt much interaction btwn the older generation, n the existing young ones. however, we still somehow have our fair share of fun.

Esp when it came to the game of Taboo! btw when-yah, sarong is not something u wear for pajamas. or do pple really associate sarong with pajamas? i dunno man.

btw i kinda liked the 'left right' game. though i sat out, coz i didnt bring a gift for exchange. juz listening to avelyn read the 'story' kinda made me chuckle.

2) good news and bad news.
Bad news: i received a letter indicating tt i was caught speeding at 76km/h (like seriously, wtf!?) and hence dealt with 4 demerit pts and $130 fine.

Good news: at the end of the letter, it said smtg along the line of 'tiz is a warning.'

*phew* i was let off with a warning. apparently the speed limit at telok blangah road is 60km/h. so for those living in the west who happen to b taking tt route aft shopping at vivo (like i did..)

Do go easy on the accelerator huh.

Wads hilarious was tt my brother stood up for me! well if u all dun already noe, my brother hardly stands on my side. he's always rubbing it in, being tt very irritating kinda brother u so DONT wanna have. he was like telling my dad, 'wad? u mean 76kmh is considered speeding? the minimum we go at is 80!'

i guess speed runs within the family, ok maybe juz me n my brother. hahaha ;p

ok anw i told my dad, who NEARLY gave me a lecture, tt i'd b more vigilant in future. Of course tt means i'd keep a lookout on speed cameras and speed limits etc.

3) yes rang, we r a very sentimental batch who very much live in nostalgia.

4) 2009 is the year of the ox. tt means i'd b turning '2 dozen' yrs old. hope its a yr to 牛转乾坤 hee

Having Lunch With God

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone abt 3 blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was abt to take a drink frm his root beer when he noticed tt the old lady looked hungry, so he offfered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

Her smile was so pretty tt the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sate there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As evening approached, the boy realised how tired he was and got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned ard, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time ltr, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did u do today tt made u so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what did u do today tt made u so happy?" She replied, "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before her son responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equality!

Have lunch with God...bring chips.

Sumo House

juz last fri, i went to Sumo House to have dinner b4 heading to church for a talk titled "Advent-the gift of Christmas"

As i sat there alone, chowing down my salmon teriyaki set, my mind took a trip down memory lane as i recalled the times where 'doubles-in-the-house' used to have our dinner here.

We'd diligently clock out OTOT (specified by capts) runs to Clementi (how convenient!), equipped with ntg but our ez-link card and spare cash. The runs wld take abt 20-30min, and by the time we reached we'd be famished and ready to chow down the food.

And we'd always b in hopeful mood tt the lady boss of the shop will offer the complimentary chicken teriyaki dish to students, in the hope tt we'd continue to patronise the shop. (we'd send the most youthful lookin one to order the food, in a bid to convince them to give us the free dish muahaha)

Oh how we juz love the free flow of green tea, n needless to say the wonderful company where we'd juz talk cock and probably gossip abt stuff happenin in the team.

i still very much live in nostalgia. haha

singapore marathon 08

i came, i ran, i overcame!

darn happy i met my personal target of 5:30hrs, and came in with a time of 5:26hrs.

walked a total of..4km tiz yr, as compared to many many km last yr.

there's a few pple i shall thank here. raine chin, who ran till abt 28km with me? n then there's christie and karine, v thoughtful of em who came down to support and juz run alongside. little words were exchanged but the being there, running alongside for the race was more than sufficient.

sometimes, all it takes is juz to be there. and so thanx..for being being there ;]

oh and i cant help but smile when i think abt the impromptu batch lunch we had at cafe cartel aft the marathon. there was when-yah, me, raine, rang and karine.

the lunch topic today was abt names. anw bottomline is, before u name ur kids in future, do sit down and discuss with ur frens. they'd help u discern if its a name tt can pass off well, sound ok, etc.

was tellin 'em abt tiz true story of my colleague's schmate, whose name is 'Jinai'. yes..J-I-N-A-I

instinctively, the form teacher called her '挤奶' as she read frm the register.

Jinai's name? it's actually 金爱!

muahahaha can u imagine?

but yea, even for yrs aft my colleague, sky, left sch, jinai's name forever remains etched in the everyone's mind.

aft which sparked a whole chain of v lame stuff involving names and how u shdn't screw up ur kids name. for instance when-yah said her colleague's fren or smtg has a name called 'pubic' (omg..tt gave us a really gd abs workout as we laughed like mad) and rang's fren who's called 'pang zhi'(which sounds somewhat like pang sai).

rang said people wondered if pang zhi's had a sibling called 'pang jiu'

the name list goes on..rang knows of a fren called 'chee wai' which sounds like..u noe la huh, and when-yah's fren whose called 'shi ting' but when the GP teacher calls out the name, it so totally sounds like shitting.

wtf? hahahah disastrous names i tell u!
